After reviewing the progress report for the Long Range Plan for Technology I have much to report. The progress report explains the importance of students using real world tools and technology to create a strong learning environment. The report show strength in student success when various technological tools are utilized in the classroom. When students have access to computers, they are more engaged and provide results. Many students have different learning styles...technology provides a the verbal, visual and kinesthetic learning tools for all students.
Parents also can succeed in becoming a 21st Century Learner by playing a key role in their child's education. Parents can adapt to new tools in technology that are provided to them on a daily basis. Such tools are: attendance and grading information, the work that students are doing both in school and at home, and utilizing access to the many technology opportunities provided by a district for them. Teachers are also given the professional development opportunities available to help them integrate technology into their everyday lesson plans. Teachers are offered many opportunities through their region ESC's to teach them the information needed to provide students with the tools to become a 21st Century Learner. More teachers and utilizing technology in their everyday lessons such as mobile lab carts, web based lessons, and distance learning opportunities. With these tools, teachers are finding students are more engaged and provide a better understanding of the subject being taught. Community and school board members are finding better ways to bring in the resources needed to provide the most up to date technological tools to districts. Grants are being offered to students on a yearly basis, community members are providing various resources to help invest in their future community members.
Charts show a decrease of early tech and developing tech from '08-'09 to '09-'10. The progress report does show an improvement in teachers technology applications for capabilities. It also shows more integration of technology in day to day classroom lessons. There is also a push to lets students develop self directed learning skills that enable them to learn more effectively.
