How Educational Leaders Might Use Blogs
Blogs are a great way to capture the "thinking" part of research. Educators can use blogging to add additional information to the daily lectures. Students can also post comments and questions to the educator for further explanation. Educational Leaders can use blogs to allow others in the community and school the opportunity share in the daily data collection. Educational Leaders can communicate what he or she is doing in the Research. It also allows staff and community members to offer advice on which direction might work best on certain issues. Administrators can also use blogging as a tool for sharing their own thoughts and possible solutions. It is user friendly and most households today have access to the Internet.
What I have learned about Action Research
When I first heard about Action Research I was a little skeptical. I can see how someone who likes to do things "by the book" could have a problem with Action Research. But after reading more into this inquiry I found that it is an essential tool for an administrator. Action research is someone who places them self in the middle of the inquiry. It allows the administrator to actively participate both as an investigator and subject in a issue that needs to be examined. The administrator can learn what is going on and why things work or do not work in his or her environment. He or she can ask questions both of staff and of ones self to find out a solution that would benefit the campus and students. The goal of the the action research is to learn and seek out change with reflection. Have you ever wondered why your campus does not have enough parental involvement. Would you like to see what you as an administrator can do to improve this issue. When you actively research you put your self into the inquiry and collect the needed data to form a possible solution. Now some may think that adding yourself in your own study could have bias results. Maybe the information you gathered was bias because staff was reporting directly to you and not an outsider. However, what better way to establish the needs or your campus and make the appropriate changes than to put yourself in the equation. Involving yourself in the study can make direct and successful changes needed on campus. After reading the text...I am a strong believer in Active Research as an innovative form of inquiry.
